About this Data

This visualization uses the GISTEMP Combined Land-Surface Air and Sea-Surface Water Temperature Anomalies (Land-Ocean Temperature Index, LOTI) dataset. For each year, a circle is drawn on the radar plot to represent the average temperature anomaly (deviating from the 1951-1980 mean); for each month in a year, a partial arc fills the area between the year's baseline and the month's measured value. The outermost axis represents a +1º global temperature anomaly, while the centerpoint represents a -1º temperature anomaly.
